The Wheel of Time Gets Huge Bump in Audience Score With Season 2

Prime Video's The Wheel of Time Season 2 garners a much better critical response than its first season.

Viewers say The Wheel of Time Season 2 drastically improved with a significantly increased Rotten Tomatoes audience score.

The Prime Video high fantasy television series currently has an 80 percent score from critics while the Rotten Tomatoes audience score sits at an astonishing 90 percent based on over 500 reviews. The Wheel of Time season 2 premiered its first three episodes on September 1. While the critical score remains similar to the first season, the audience score is a drastic approval jump from viewers who gave the first season a disappointing 59 percent. Regardless of the reviews, Amazon has confidence investing in the series, which was renewed for a second season in May 2021, before the series premiered. In addition, ahead of the second-season premiere, the series was renewed for a third season in the summer last year.

The Wheel of Time centers around Moiraine Damodred, an Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah, a formidable group of women gifted with the ability to harness the One Power. Together with her steadfast Warder, al'Lan Mandragoran, she embarks on a quest to locate five young villagers from the remote Two Rivers region of Andor. This mission is born from the aftermath of an assault on their village, driven by Moiraine's conviction that one among them may be the reincarnation of the Dragon—a figure of immense power who broke the world. The Dragon Reborn is prophesied to stand as the savior of humanity, thwarting the ancient malevolence of the Dark One, or potentially triggering its resurgence leading to the world’s destruction.

Prime Video's The Wheel of Time is adapted from the Robert Jordan fantasy novel series of the same name. It stars Rosamund Pike in the lead role as Moiraine and the stellar cast includes Daniel Henney, Zoë Robins, Madeleine Madden, Josha Stradowski, Marcus Rutherford, Donal Finn, Kate Fleetwood, Priyanka Bose, Hammed Animashaun, and Sophie Okonedo.

The Wheel of Time Season 2 Finally Arrives

It took almost two years for The Wheel of Time Season 2 to premiere following the first season. The showrunner Rafe Judkins revealed that the current season will have the same number of episodes as the first, but it will have a longer running time. The next set of The Wheel of Time episodes will be released on September 8, 2023. The book series has 14 novels; therefore, if Amazon continues to invest in the series and the audience is engaged, fans can expect a lot more seasons.
