Method Man Hopes to Play Bishop in the MCU: 'I've Done All the Research'

Method Man talks about his interest in possibly playing the X-Men character Bishop in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Although it will take a while for the Children of the Atom to arrive, Method Man talked about his interest in playing the X-Men character Bishop in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Method Man delved into this desire of his while speaking to Cassius Life, remarking, "I was just putting it out there to see if I could hook something. Those guys at the MCU, they know their stuff. I haven't had any problems with any of their casting choice so far. So whoever gets the job… I think Omar Sy did an excellent job as Bishop [in X-Men: Days of Future Past], but that was before MCU. If they chose him again, I think he'd kill it. There's a few people out there. But if they're willing to give me a shot, I'd go for it. Plus, I've done all the research already."

Interestingly, Method Man already has some history with Lucas Bishop, as he had previously cosplayed the futuristic mutant in 2020. Of course, Method Man is no stranger to acting in the Marvel Universe. The rapper voiced Ben Urich in the Marvels podcast as well as minor Namor the Sub-Mariner villain Torg in an episode of Disney Channel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. He also appeared as himself in an episode of Luke Cage.

Method Man previously discussed wanting to play a new hero in either the MCU or the DC Extended Universe back in 2020, mentioning a conversation he had with joint franchise veteran Idris Elba. They spoke about a rumor that Elba was going to play James Bond, but Elba was more interested in creating a new character, which struck a chord with Method Man. "I mean Marvel is such a big universe, why not create new characters of diversity, instead of gender swapping or whatever it is?" he added. "Create new characters and introduce them…give them as much focus as you would the old characters, or even put them with the old characters to give them a nice start and work from there. I'd love to play a role for a new character that Marvel creates, or DC for that matter."

As for the X-Men themselves, it's currently unknown when they'll show up in the MCU. However, in 2022, Marvel Studios President and CCO Kevin Feige hinted that it may be soon, stating that Marvel is "getting close" due to both Deadpool and Wolverine being in Deadpool 3.
