One Piece's Monkey D. Luffy Stretches Reality in New Gear 5 Collectible
Monkey D. Luffy fully embraces the freedom and power of his Gear 5 transformation in a One Piece collectible figurine.
A new One Piece collectible figurine spotlights Monkey D. Luffy's most powerful transformation.
Available on Crunchyroll and retailing for only $29.99, the Gear 5 Battle Record Collection Figure shows the future King of the Pirates in full Joy Boy mode, his left arm stretched out and ready to clobber Kaido of the Beasts. The preorder window for the item is set to close soon, and the collectible is scheduled for official release at the end of March next year.
Of course, the Gear 5 Battle Record Collection Figure isn't the only example of One Piece merchandise that recreates the moment Luffy fully awakens his Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit -- the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika (also referred to as the Gomu Gomu no Mi) and transforms into the legendary figure from the Void Century. MegaHouse has released its own take on Gear 5 that comes with a much higher price tag of $269. The expensive statue is currently available for preorder on Sideshow and is scheduled to begin shipping in November 2024.
Fans of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece manga, which first appeared in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump all the way back in 1997, don't just show their love and appreciation for the series by purchasing tie-in merchandise; they also buy copies of the story itself. One Piece currently stands as the unrivaled best-selling manga of all time, with over 516 million copies in circulation across the globe. Notably, the latest volume cracked the New York Times bestsellers list for graphic books, claiming fourth place.
