Yu-Gi-Oh!'s Blue Eyes White Dragon Spreads Its Wings in New Collectible

Yu-Gi-Oh!'s Blue-Eyes White Dragon is both intimidating and powerful in Tamashii Nations' newest posable collectible for the classic anime/manga.

Tamashii Nations is now accepting preorders for an epic collectible figurine of Seto Kaiba's signature monster from Yu-Gi-Oh!.

Retailing for $140 and available on Sideshow, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon figure stands just short of nine inches tall and features multiple points of articulation. The item also comes with "Burst Stream of Destruction" Effect parts, meaning purchasers can recreate the artwork from the cards or their favorite moments from the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. The Blue-Eyes White Dragon collectible is expected to start shipping in February 2024.

Tamashii Nations' new figurine isn't the only recent product that celebrates the late Kazuki Takahashi's work by specifically spotlighting the franchise's monsters. For example, Animate released a special apparel collection earlier this year that includes a variety of T-shirts, stadium jackets and hoodies. The designs on the clothing are inspired by the Blue-Eyes White Dragon and other classic creatures like the Dark Magician Girl. Moreover, some items highlight fan-favorite characters like Kaiba and Yami Yugi (aka Atem).

The Universe of Yu-Gi-Oh!

Moreover, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, a free-to-play game, dropped last year and can be played on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and mobile devices. The title enables players to play Duel Monsters digitally, collecting cards and battling opponents, and it has the potential to bring some of the story's iconic tournaments like Battle City into the real world.

Takashi's Yu-Gi-Oh! manga appeared in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump from September 1996 to March 2004. The story follows high school student Yugi Mutou, who finds himself sharing his body with a mysterious, ancient spirit after he completes the Millennium Puzzle. The anime adaptation by Studio Gallop, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, originally aired from April 2000 until September 2004, producing over 200 individual episodes. The English dub starred Dan Green (Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution) as Yugi/Yami Yugi, Vinnie Penna (2003's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) as Joey Wheeler and Eric Stuart (Pokémon: The First Movie) as Kaiba.

There have been several events and festivities this year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise. Most notably, the new Yu-Gi-Oh! Legendary Collection for the trading card game contains reprints of six old-school booster packs; however many of the reprinted cards have featured multiple errors and misprints, including parts appearing in completely different languages than the rest of the cards.
