EXCLUSIVE: Babylon 5 Clip Reveals an Alternate Timeline Under Attack

Babylon 5: The Road Home introduces fans to a whole new timeline, and it is just the first of many slated to appear in the upcoming animated film.

Babylon 5: The Road Home takes audiences to a whole new timeline -- in peril.

In an exclusive clip from the upcoming Babylon 5 animated film, the series' eponymous ship is under attack from an enigmatic force. Although the majority of the crew are quick to race to their stations, John Sheridan finds himself searching desperately for Commander Elizabeth Lochley in the hopes of also discovering answers as to where, or rather when he is. Instead, Sheridan learns that the current Commander of the ship is none other than Jeffrey Sinclair, Babylon 5's original commanding officer who left his post after being reassigned to an ambassador position.

Created by J. Michael Straczynski, Babylon 5 premiered in 1993 and amassed a fervent fan base. Running for 110 episodes across its original five season run, Babylon 5 also spun off half a dozen made-for-TV films, as well as various comic books and novels. The space opera starred an ensemble cast of characters including Bruce Boxleitner as John Sheridan and Tracy Scoggins as Elizabeth Lochley, both of whom are returning to voice their respective roles in Babylon 5: The Road Home.

In May, it was confirmed that Boxleitner and Scoggins would be returning alongside other original cast members Claudia Christian as Susan Ivanova, Peter Jurasik as Londo Mollari, Bill Mumy as Lennier, and Patricia Tallman as Lyta Alexander. The voice cast also includes numerous replacement actors filling in for the original cast members who sadly passed away following the original series' conclusion in 1998. These include Phil LaMarr, who has stepped in to take over the late Richard Biggs' role as the voice of Dr. Stephen Franklin, and Anthony Hansen, who is replacing the late Jerry Doyle as Michael Garibaldi.

Straczynski initially teased the animated film, the first of its kind for the franchise, back in April. At the time, Straczynski told fans to "watch the skies" for updates on "the project we've been working on in secret for almost two years," accompanied by a quote from 2010: The Year We Make Contact implying that "something wonderful" was on the way. This came only weeks before Straczynski officially announced the Babylon 5 animated feature coming from Warner Bros. Animation and WB Home Entertainment.

The upcoming animate film is set to take audiences through multiple timelines and iterations of the Babylon 5 universe, as the official synopsis for Babylon 5: The Road Home explains, "Travel across the galaxy with John Sheridan as he unexpectedly finds himself transported through multiple timelines and alternate realities in a quest to find his way back home. Along the way he reunites with some familiar faces, while discovering cosmic new revelations about the history, purpose, and meaning of the Universe."
