Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 Gives Fans A First Look at Tigger

Tigger is heading back to the Hundred Acre Wood in the upcoming sequel to Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey.

Photos of Tigger from Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 have surfaced online, showcasing the horror-tinged, blood-stained character who Lewis Santer will play.

The images via Discussing Film on X set the tone for the upcoming film, which is said to be as gory as its predecessor. Tigger was absent from the first film as the character wasn't part of the public domain when Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey was in production. As such, filmmakers used A.A. Milne's classic 1926 children's book, which didn't include him. The only characters from the Pooh mythos that appeared were Winnie and Piglet. Tigger will enter the public domain in January 2024, one month before the sequel is released.

A previous behind-the-scenes image revealed that Christopher Robin has been recast. While the actor's name remains unknown, fans have been wondering if the change is due to the sequel being set when Christopher is older. The beloved character was at the heart of the first Blood and Honey, which follows Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet, who go on a killing spree after Christopher Robin abandons them by growing up. The twisted characters eventually murder a group of young adults relaxing in the English countryside.

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey was a viral success for filmmaker Rhys Frake-Waterfield, earning over $5.2 million at the global box office on a budget of less than $100,000. However, the film was a critical disaster, with reviews maligning the writing, acting, cinematography, and production. "We've listened to feedback from critics and fans on how we can improve with this sequel and are coming back to the table with everything we've learned from the first release," a message via the Blood and Honey's X account said. "We're working hard on set to bring this movie to the next level."

Blood and Honey 2 is said to carry a much larger budget, given the commercial success of the first horror adaptation. Rhys Frake-Waterfield is also toying with the idea of a shared universe of horror films based on children's books that have entered the public domain. "The idea is that we're going to try and imagine they're all in the same world, so we can have crossovers," he said. "People have been messaging saying they really want to see Bambi versus Pooh." The director is currently working on horror movies based on Bambi and Tinkerbell from Peter Pan.

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey is now available on digital.
