So Long, Speedster
Serving as one of The CW's most popular series and acting as one of the tentpole franchises in the network's Arrowverse, The Flash follows the adventures of the titular superhero played by Grant Gustin. Boasting a large and dedicated fanbase, many fans were disappointed when it was confirmed that Season 9 would bring the series to an end while also effectively terminating the entire interconnected superhero universe that also consisted of Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, Black Lightning and Supergirl.
While Gustin himself has acknowledged that he was heartbroken to say goodbye to the series, the actor admitted that he needed to move on with his life. "A lot of people wanted us to get to 10 seasons, but in my mind, we did 10 years," he said. "It was 2013 when I was cast as Barry Allen, and we finished in 2023. We had done everything we needed to do, the characters were in a good place, and we had reached the conclusion."
Despite reconciling with The Flash's end, Gustin wouldn't say no to donning the tights again should the opportunity arise. "If someone called me today or tomorrow and was like, 'Hey, we have this amazing Flash idea,' obviously it's like, I'm gonna take that phone call and listen to that idea," the actor explained.
The Flash: The Complete Ninth Season and The Flash: The Complete Series arrive on Blu-ray and DVD on Aug. 29.
