How to Get Barbarian Armor in Breath of the Wild & Tears of the Kingdom

The three-piece Barbarian Armor set in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom gives Link a valuable attack boost. Here's how to find it.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom includes an array of new armor sets that help Link fight his way through Hyrule. Many of the new armor additions have a massive impact on gameplay, such as the Froggy Armor set. However, players of the game's forerunner, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, will have set their sights on familiar armor sets. Luckily, the new Zelda game retains the best armor sets from Breath of the Wild and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, including the Barbarian Armor.

The Barbarian Armor set is an intimidating-looking ensemble worn to increase Link's attack power when battling difficult enemies. The set includes three components: The Barbarian Helm, the Barbarian Armor (chest piece), and the Barbarian Leg Wraps. The armor was adorned by ancient warriors from a tribe in the Faron region, and players can upgrade and customize the attire.

How to Get the Barbarian Armor in Breath of the Wild?

If players want to boost Link's damage output with the Barbarian Armor set in Breath of the Wild, they must make their way to the three labyrinths in Hyrule. The Barbarian Helm is within a chest in the Tu Ka'loh Shrine inside the Lomei Labyrinth Island in the top right corner of Link's map. The Lomei Labyrinth is found north of Akkala Ancient Tech Lab and contains a simple maze and a Guardian Stalker at the labyrinth's entrance. Link will need to paraglide to the location, and utilizing Revali's Gale and having at least two stamina wheels will make the process easier.

Players can find the Barbarian Armor chest piece in the South Lomei Labyrinth, which is southeast of the Gerudo Canyon Stable in the Gerudo Wasteland area. Link can enter the maze between the East Barrens below Daval Peak and Mount Granajh in the east of the Gerudo Desert. Within the maze, the Barbarian Armor is found in a chest in the Dila Maag Shrine. This desert maze is trickier than the Lomei Labyrinth Island maze, as it has patches of malice, various dead ends, and more hidden nooks and alcoves that Link must climb.

Link can retrieve the Barbarian Leg Wraps from a chest in the Qaza Tokki Shrine after getting through the North Lomei Labyrinth in the eastern parts of the Hebra Mountains. This labyrinth is found in the northeast region of Tabantha Tundra and north of Snowfield Stable. For this loot, Link will need the paraglider, arrows to destroy a Malice Eyeball, and two stamina wheels or stamina-boosting meals and elixirs.

How to Get the Barbarian Armor in Tears of the Kingdom?

In Tears of the Kingdom, the Barbarian Armor set is found within various caves. The Barbarian Helm is found in a chest within the Robred Dropoff Cave between Mount Lanayru and West Necluda. The cave's entrance is southeast of Kakariko Village at coordinates 2495, -1480, 0014. The entrance is marked by a horde of stone statues that will continue to guide Link within the maze-like cave. Once inside the cave, follow the direction the statues face by taking the right path at the first junction. After following the tunnel, Link will come to an area with multiple figures arranged in a circle. A collection of three statues point outwards towards a rock wall, while the remaining statues face inwards.

Go through the rock wall until Link gets to a room with a Boss Bokoblins, multiple Bokoblins, and a mound of boulders in the center. Break through these boulders to land in shallow water, then follow the tunnel towards another gathering of statues. Go towards the platform near the group of three statues and use Ascend to get to the chest. Retrieving the Barbarian Helm is trickier than getting the Barbarian Armor chest piece, which is found in the chest inside Crenel Hills Cave at coordinates 0490, 0730, 0041. This cave is located between Crenel Hills and Hylia River in the northwest section of Hyrule Field. The cave has a Stone Talus that can be avoided by sticking close to the left wall and looping around the cave's interior. On the opposite end of the cave, break through a mound of Luminous Stone ores to reveal the chest.

To complete the armor set, players can retrieve the Barbarian Leg Wraps from a chest found in Walnot Mountain Cave at coordinates 3930, -2066, 0129. The cave's entrance is in the Mount Lanayru region near a small pond southwest of Retsam Forest. Inside the cave, there's a collection of enemies that Link needs to get past, including Horriblins, Ice Like Likes, and Ice Keese. Follow the upper right path until Link stumbles upon an Ice Like Like. Behind the elemental enemy is a small opening with the chest, which Link can get to by jumping over the ledge. The chest is enveloped by a layer of ice that players can melt with fire, elemental fruits, a torch, or a flame emitter.

Upgrading the Barbarian Armor Set in Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild

The Barbarian Armor Set is an attack-boosting collection that can raise Link's attack power to 50% when all three pieces are worn. In Breath of the Wild, the Barbarian Helm, Barbarian Armor, and Barbarian Leg Wraps all have a base defense rating of 3 and offer increased damage output. When worn together, the set bonus results in reduced stamina usage for charged attacks. To upgrade the gear at the Great Fairy Fountains, Link must collect Lynel Horns, Hoofs, and Guts, as well as Horn Shards from Naydra, Farosh, and Dinraal. Players can upgrade each piece four times to amass a total defense value of 20 for each item.

In Tears of the Kingdom, the Barbarian Armor Set offers the same base and upgraded stats as in Breath of the Wild. Players will need an array of items to increase the armor's stats, including Mighty Thistles, Razorshrooms, Lynel Mace Horns, Lynel Saber Horns, Razorclaw Crabs, and Bladed Rhino Beetles. To fully upgrade the gear, Link must unlock the four Great Fairy Fountains at Woodland Stable, Snowfield Stable, Dueling Peaks Stable, and Outskirt Stable.
