Game of Thrones Actor Darren Kent Dies at 36
Actor Darren Kent, who recently appeared in the theatrical film Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, has passed away.
British actor Darren Kent, who had a memorable, heartbreaking role in HBO's hit series Game of Thrones, has died.
According to a post on X from his talent agency, Carey Dodd Associates, Kent passed away on Friday. While it was noted that his best friend and parents were by his side, no additional details were shared on the nature of Kent's passing, though he had been battling osteoporosis, arthritis, and a very rare skin disorder all throughout his career. The actor, who was just 36 years old, is getting remembered on social media by some of the people who'd gotten to know him through their work together.
What a privilege it was to be your friend and to work together on so many projects over the years. Life won’t be the same without you," writes filmmaker Jane Gull, whose recent film Love Without Walls featured Kent. "I will miss you so much. RIP darling Darren Kent."
Kent has appeared in various movies and television shows, and one of his most well-known roles was for a key role in Game of Thrones. He appeared in the Season 4 finale, "The Children," which aired in 2014. Kent played a grieving father who presents Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) with the burnt remains of his daughter after she was apparently killed by one of Daenerys' dragons. This led to Daenerys keeping her other dragons locked up, hoping to prevent any similar catastrophes.
More recently, Kent appeared on the big screen for a role as the "Yes" Corpse in Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. The actor has also appeared in various horror movies including Mirrors, Asylum Blackout, Community, and Jeepers Creepers: Reborn, while also having roles in other films like Snow White and the Huntsman, C.O.O.L.I.O. Time Travel Gangster, The Little Stranger, and A Beautiful Debt.
Kent may also be recognized for his role from the TV series EastEnders, having appeared in multiple episodes. His other small screen credits include appearing in the shows Shameless, Marshal's Law, The Frankenstein Chronicles, Malpractice, and Happy Hours. He also appeared in the TV miniseries adaptation of Les Misérables with Dominic West, David Oyelowo, and David Bradley.
The Essex-born entertainer had also tried his hand at filmmaking, serving as a director and producer on various projects. That includes working with the BBC in recent years to direct episodes of The Break. He also directed the films Meadow Lane and Abusing Protocol, the latter of which also featured him in an acting role.
