Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon Titles Reportedly Revealed

New details for Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon franchise have reportedly been revealed ahead of the trailer's imminent release.

Netflix's new big fantasy sci-fi movie franchise, Rebel Moon, directed by Zack Snyder, is headed for significant reveals in the upcoming week.

With the trailer set to be released at Gamescom on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, details regarding the first two movies have been disclosed. According to What's on Netflix, the project, overseen by Zack Snyder, has been under development for several years, initially originating as a Star Wars pitch. Netflix has given an upfront order for two movies, with plans for at least three in total, confirming that both films were shot back-to-back throughout 2022.

The titles for the first two movies have also been revealed. The first film will be called Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire, while the second will be named Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver. Previously, these films had been referred to as Rebel Moon Part 1 and Part 2, but according to sources, each will now have a subtitle.

Interestingly, there were earlier hints at a subtitle for the first movie, as seen in Netflix Brazil’s marketing for Netflix TUDUM 2023 in June 2023, where a subtitle translating to The Child [girl] of Fire was included. Additionally, it's been revealed that the second movie might be further along in post-production than initially believed, with a potential release as early as April 2024.

Rebel Moon Part 1 Arrives in December

Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire is scheduled to arrive on Netflix globally on December 22, 2023, and there are expectations of a limited theatrical release, although no confirmation has been provided. It is also anticipated that the first film will receive an extended R-rated cut. The first film of the series, set to be one of Netflix’s prominent Christmas releases, has been confirmed since January 2023. Various new material has been gradually released throughout the year, including an exclusive first look provided in a VanityFair piece in June 2023.

Rebel Moon's presence at Gamescom, a prominent video game event in Germany, was confirmed by Zack Snyder on August 18, 2023. He posted an image of himself putting the finishing touches to the teaser trailer that will make its debut at the event. While no specific time has been announced for the trailer, it's known to premiere during Gamescom: Opening Night Live, hosted by Geoff Keighley, starting at 8 PM CEST (local time), 7 PM BST, 2 PM EST, or 11 AM PST.
