Mykhaylo Mudryk Chelsea Star Recent Performances Summer Transfer Targets
Chelsea star Mykhaylo Mudryk could face further competition for his place if a summer transfer occurs. Chelsea have reportedly added Ferran Torres' name to their shortlist of summer transfer targets. The Blues are claimed to have paid close attention to the Barcelona star's recent performances.
Torres has had a frustrating season at Barca. He has started just 13 of his 31 La Liga appearances, scoring four goals and registering two assists.
The arrivals of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha last summer have limited the Spain international's game time. Arsenal were linked with a move for Torres in the January transfer window as Mikel Arteta attempted to sign a versatile forward before opting for Leandro Trossard.
Torres can play up front as well as out wide. Chelsea are well-stocked in wide-attacking areas so the arrival of another player in that position would be a further blow to Mykhaylo Mudryk.
Transfer reporter Simon Phillips claims Chelsea are keeping an eye on Torres. Scouts have monitored his form at Barca and Blues chiefs like the fact he can play across the frontline.
Signing a striker will be one of the main aims for incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino this summer. Chelsea already have Christopher Nkunku heading through the doors at Cobham after a deal with RB Leipzig was struck earlier this season.
Like Torres, Nkunku can play in several positions in the front three. Any deal for Torres would make Mudryk's task of becoming a regular at Stamford Bridge even tougher.
The £88million signing from Shakhtar Donetsk has struggled to settle in during his first six months in England. Mudryk has started just six Premier League matches since he arrived.
He has made eight appearances off the bench and has sometimes been left as an unused substitute. Mudryk is yet to score for his new club but has registered two assists.
Torres has a brief history of playing in the Premier League, having spent 18 months at City after joining in the summer of 2020. He won the Premier League and Carabao Cup during his time at the Etihad and was on the bench for the Champions League final defeat to Chelsea in Porto.
Torres scored 16 goals in 43 appearances for City, also notching four assists. He scored 13 times in his first full season in England, four more than any Chelsea player has scored this term.
He still has four years remaining on his contract at the Nou Camp. But Barca could be willing to sell as they also plot to take Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back to the club from Chelsea.
