Ms. Marvel's Iman Vellani Cosplays as X-Men's Jubilee at Fan Expo

A new image reveals that Iman Vellani, who stars in the MCU as Ms. Marvel, recently cosplayed as X-Men's Jubilee at Fan Expo Canada 2023.

Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani was recently spotted cosplaying as X-Men's Jubilee at Fan Expo Canada.

Shared on X (formerly Twitter), Vellani -- dressed as a comics-accurate Jubilee -- attended the Toronto-based annual fan convention with fellow actor Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never Have I Ever), who cosplayed as Donatello from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This isn't the first time Vellani has impressed the Marvel fandom with her impressive cosplays. The actor previously attended a Halloween party in 2022 as Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark while her Ms. Marvel co-star Yasmeen Fletcher went as Lego Iron Man.

Vellani made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2022 starring as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel in the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel. The first season, which consisted of six episodes that were released between June 8 and July 13, 2023, follows the titular 16-year-old Pakistani-American high school student on her journey to becoming a superhero after finding an ancient heirloom that allows her to make powerful constructs out of cosmic energy. While a second season of Ms. Marvel isn't currently in the works at Marvel Studios, the show's producer Sana Amanat encouraged fans at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 to continue campaigning for another season, stating that it is "great to see more demand."

The Marvels Tackles Kamala Khan's Hero Worship

Vellani will make her second appearance in the MCU in the forthcoming film, The Marvels. The upcoming Phase 5 title, which serves as a sequel to Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel, as well as WandaVision and Secret Invasion, will show Kamala Khan meeting, and working alongside, her idol, Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). The movie's producer Mary Livanos recently revealed how The Marvels will use this relationship to shine a light on hero worship, explaining how anyone can fall "into similar trappings when it comes to hero worship. You think that heroes can fix any problem. But in this movie, we actually examine how sometimes decisions you make in an attempt to make things better can sometimes make things worse, and have a cascading effect that spirals out of your control."

Livanos continued that The Marvels will showcase Captain Marvel "through the eyes of Ms. Marvel," allowing fans to "actually experience forgiveness through the eyes of another person. That can be freeing for the person who might not be able to forgive themselves." In the upcoming superhero sequel, Carol and Kamala must team up with Monica Rambeau after the trio's powers become entangled with one another.

Jubilee Returns in X-Men '97

Fans will also soon be able to see Jubilee back on the screen, with the popular X-Men member set to appear in X-Men '97 -- the upcoming animated revival of X-Men: The Animated Series. Announced in November 2021, the animated continuation will pick up several months after the events depicted in the series finale of X-Men: The Animated Series, "Graduation Day." The 10-episode first season is expected to premiere on Disney+ in late 2023 or early 2024.
