Seth Rogen Teases The Boys Spinoff: Gen V Is Wilder

Seth Rogen reveals that he has high expectations out of The Boys’ spinoff, Gen V. Rogen admitted that Gen V has ‘crazier’ stuff.

Seth Rogen, the powerhouse behind the runaway hit series, The Boys, is now teasing the audience with a spinoff, Gen V, claiming that it is even more electrifying. The Boys, which quickly cemented its place among Prime Video viewers, is an audacious adaptation of the comic series penned by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.

It introduces a universe teetering on the brink of chaos due to reckless superhumans (Supes) and contains numerous jaw-dropping moments like Termite's embiggening and the notorious Herogasm. Yet, Rogen dares to assert that Gen V will go one step further.

In a recent conversation with Empire, Rogen shared the anticipation for The Boys: Gen V, implying it has elements that will outdo the already infamous exploits from The Boys. Rogen quipped:

"Gen V packs some truly wild stuff. The fact that these characters are younger and in college potentially amplifies the shock factor."

In relation to the liberties in making an R-rated show, Rogen expressed:

"In general, if you're making an R-rated thing, they let you do whatever the f*ck you want, unless there's some real legal thing that they think you might be bumping against," Rogen added. "With The Boys, maybe it requires one extra five-minutes phone call, where they're like, 'Really?', and you're like, 'Really.' There are other things you're on hours of phone calls about that are so much less interesting than that."

He went on to discuss how The Boys may occasionally necessitate additional deliberations, but generally allows for significant creative flexibility.

Gen V dives into unexplored territories. The official summary mentions,

"Based in the country's sole college dedicated to young superheroes, managed by Vought International, Gen V delves into the lives of competitive, hormone-driven Supes pushing their physical, moral, and sexual limits while vying for the top position at the college."

Gen V's Youthful Cast Promises More Thrills Than Ever Before

As pointed out by Rogen, the setting of a college campus and younger Supes than the original Boys cast further accelerates the impending pandemonium. The fresh and youthful cast of Gen V, including Lizze Broadway, Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, and Shelley Conn, are primed to raise the stakes even higher.

Eric Kripke, the brain behind The Boys, confided in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, "We're writing at full throttle." Kripke voiced his optimism about the progress of the show and highlighted its unique flavor. He compared the divergent tones of Gen V to the different Marvel projects, albeit admitting the new series might have a stronger penchant for risqué humor.

The release of Gen V on Prime Video is slated for later this year. As this daring offshoot takes flight, it seeks to uphold The Boys' legacy by pushing the envelope of bold, no-holds-barred content while also paving its own distinctive trajectory. The promise of navigating the tumultuous journey of young superheroes, coupled with Rogen's provocative insights, is set to keep audiences on the edge of their seats as they eagerly await the premiere of the next chapter in this thrilling tale.
